....LMB: "Axis of Justice Online"....

August 08, 2002

I've mentioned here before that I've been organizing a small political activism section of the Ozzfest concert tour this year, on behalf of System of a Down and former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. Well, we finally got a small website up about the section, which we've been calling the "Axis of Justice," a riff on George W's "Axis of Evil."

Mainly the page is just a list of contact info for the various groups that have/will work(ed) the booth. You can check it out at AxisOfJustice.org. I'd appreciate it if you did.

I think that you people should support the President and your military. This war is not about the procurement of oil. It's about cutting an evil leader off at the pass. It's about stopping a man who has no regard for human life, except his own. I'm sure that you people would have been spreading the same crap about intervening where Hitler was concerned. You may say it is different, sure, hindsight makes it look different. Just so you people get to go on with your daily routine and not have to worry about being inconvenienced, you're happy. Well, freedom and security come at a price. Get a backbone. Oh, and I am in the military.

I just saw a spokesperson for the Axis of Justice on Tv, and although he is articulate and passionate about his views he is obviously very misguided. The potential war against Iraq is not about oil. Sadam Hussein would like to have a larger market for his oil, and we could merely make a deal if we needed his oil. His is not the only oil in the world.
So, I would ask that you have a little more respect for those who obviously know more about the details that you do. While I truly hope there is no war, if we acquiese in the face of a bully, then we will loose respect and be the object of all other bullies in the world and will not longer be the proponent of independence, freedom, and supporter of those wanting freedom. I personally KNOW some of the Iraquis and they know what Sadam Hussein is really like, unlike those who are looking for an outlet for their frustrations and take to the streets on a band wagon. Thankfully, America guarantees the right of freedom of speech and assembly- unlike in Iraq. So, enjoy the freedom to protest. God bless America!

Well, not that I have anything against taking out Saddam, I don't think war is the way to do it. He IS contained. He can't do the damage that he did before the world mobilized against him. He is NOT a threat to the United States or its interests because he is under wraps.
Also, as the father of a child who could possibly end up fighting in this unnecessary action - I don't like the idea that my daughter (or her husband to be) could end up killed in a pointless battle that is basically George W's way of making up for his dad. Its a personal Vendetta.
Korea is a much larger threat and also needs to be addressed in a non combatant manner.
War is a LAST resort and the good guys don't attack first.

Bob,
It's time to wake up from the usual spoon fed bullshit of the LEFT!
First, how long are we going to sit on our hands over there and "contain" them?
Second, HE has been a threat since we left the Gulf in the 90's. Remember Saddam SUPPORTS suicide bombers families financially. He hates our way of life and will not let anything get in his way of destroying both Americans and our way of life. Do you actually trust this man to just go away?
To prepare for peace you must prepare for war. Its the human condition and it must be dealt with, not ignored.
Pointless battle? What if the parents of WW 2
veterans would have said that same statement. Just remember that FREEDOM comes at a price and America's sons and daughters must stand for that freedom or it will cease, BOB! You have become a leech sucking up the blood of CNN, ABC, CBS, and the Dan Rathers of the world. Your statements of personal vendettas would better be left to the Hollywood leftists, who enjoy Bush bashing rather than help our cause and those of the Iraqi people who are suffering. We tried sanctions (didnt work), we tried diplomacy (didnt work), we tried inspections ( didnt work),
what will it take for your kind to get your head out of the sand? Have you gotten so soft in mentality and heart to be so decieved by your reasoning?
If we went after Korea your leftist friends would still be saying the same things and the Demogogues would still be going after the RIGHT!
Rogue States understand little without using force. Korea even stated that the use of sanctions would be a declaration of war. HELLO,
BOB AND THE LEFT!!!
War is a last resort and our country has responded with a patient dialogue, the U.N. has dragged its inept feet, and our media has given Saddam comfort. As far as I know we didnt attack first. Remember, the Khobar Towers, U.S.S. Cole, U.S. Embassy bombings in both Kenya and Tanzania, and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. All terrorist actions during our spineless liberal President Clinton's watch. He demonstrated that the lack of force is impotent at best. Do nothing, and hope it goes away.
This logic's futility came at a price on Sept. 11, 2001. Enough of your blind rhetoric BOB!
We gave peace a chance NOW let's kick ass!

Beelzebub,
First, learn how to think. Second, learn to spell. When are you "peace" people going to learn? Would you rather see and hear of the Iraqi people suffering, raped, and brutally murdered? Come on! Judgement is not for those that want to help innocent victims of a very evil regime. You should read your Bible sometime instead of empty reasoned statements. Bush is not there for oil as the LEFT will propagate. We were also not there for oil in the original Gulf War in '91. If we were don't you think Iraqi oil would be in our tanks and Saddam would be removed from Iraq. You peaceniks think that evil dictators should be left alone and all is well. That is wrong! What does it take for you people to open up your eyes? You would have befriended Hitler in the name of "peace", that makes me sick. Where were all you bullshit marchers when your disgraceful President Clinton was "in office?" Nowhere because it wasn't hip to bash that Liberal Son of a Bitch, but innocent Muslims still perished due to his bombing. Kosovo, Somalia, Bosnia, where were you? Where were your Asshole leaders at the United Nations during all the African conflicts? Where were they during the 12 yrs. of Saddams' reign of terror? I'll tell you where they were they were, here, like you, siphoning off our tax dollars for their failed programs, criticizing our freedom, trying to circumvent and put an end to our constitutional freedoms that many, not you, have given their utmost to preserve. The only brainwashing going on resides with the Leftist media, the drug infested pukes that choose to negate reality, the mindfucks at our "academic" centers, and the heartless "parents" that "raise" these Red Diaper Doper Babies. Don't forget the tree of Liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of its patriots to survive in an evil world. You are neither a patriot nor one to comment on those that love freedom. Your problem should not be President Bush, but your own mind. Here's to all you peacenik freedom hating third world degenerates: FUCK OFF and get a life or an issue worth debating!

Lying Media Bastards is both a radio show and website. The show airs Mondays 2-4pm PST on KillRadio.org, and couples excellent music with angry news commentary. And the website, well, you're looking at it.

Both projects focus on our media-marinated world, political lies, corporate tyranny, and the folks fighting the good fight against these monsters.

Tales of Media Woe

Senate May Ram Copyright Bill- one of the most depressing stories of the day that didn't involve death or bombs. It's the music and movie industries' wet dream. It criminalizes peer-to-peer software makers, allows the government to file civil lawsuits on behalf of these media industries, and eliminates fair use. Fair use is the idea that I can use a snippet of a copyrighted work for educational, political, or satirical purposes, without getting permission from the copyright-holder first.

And most tellingly, the bill legalizes technology that would automatically skip over "obejctionable content" (i.e. sex and violence) in a DVD, but bans devices that would automatically skip over commericals. This is a blatant, blatant, blatant gift to the movie industry. Fuck the movie industry, fuck the music industry, fuck the Senate.

Music industry aims to send in radio cops- the recording industry says that you're not allowed to record songs off the radio, be it real radio or internet radio. And now they're working on preventing you from recording songs off internet radio through a mixture of law and technological repression (although I imagine their techno-fixes will get hacked pretty quickly).

The shocking truth about the FCC: Censorship by the tyranny of the few- blogger Jeff Jarvis discovers that the recent $1.2 million FCC fine against a sex scene in Fox's "Married By America" TV show was not levied because hundreds of people wrote the FCC and complained. It was not because 159 people wrote in and complained (which is the FCC's current rationale). No, thanks to Jarvis' FOIA request, we find that only 23 people (of the show's several million viewers) wrote in and complained. On top of that, he finds that 21 of those letters were just copy-and-paste email jobs that some people attached their names to. Jarvis then spins this a bit by saying that "only 3" people actually wrote letters to the FCC, which is misleading but technically true. So somewhere between 3 and 23 angry people can determine what you can't see on television. Good to know.

Reuters Union Considers Striking Over Layoffs- will a strike by such a major newswire service impact the rest of the world's media?

Pentagon Starts Work On War Internet- the US military is talking about the creation of a global, wireless, satellite-aided computer network for use in battle. I think I saw a movie about this once...

Conservative host returns to the air after week suspension for using racial slur- Houston radio talk show host (and somtime Rush Limbaugh substitute) Mark Belling referred to Mexican-Americans as "wetbacks" on his show. He was suspended for a couple of weeks, and then submitted a written apology for the racial slur to a local newspaper. But he seems to be using the slur and its surrounding controversy to boost his conservative cred with his listeners.

Stay Tuned for Nudes- Cleveland TV news anchor Sharon Reed aired a story about artist Spencer Tunick, who uses large numbers of naked volunteers in his installations and photographs. The news report will be unique in that it will not blur or black-out the usual naughty bits. The story will air late at night, when it's allegedly okay with the FCC if you broadcast "indecent" material. The author of this article doesn't seem to notice that Reed first claims that this report is a publicity stunt, but then claims it's a protest against FCC repression. I'd like to think it's the latter, but I'm not that much of a sucker.
