Well, yes and no. We've got two facts here that aren't necessarily related. 1) your granddaughter and her friends constantly call to request the song. 2) Radio Disney plays the song all the time. Does the radio station actually respond to requests, or do they go ahead and follow their pre-programmed playlist regardless of what callers ask for?

Also, although these girls might not have the "buying power," advertisers count on them anyway. There is a presumption on their part that children will harass their parents into buying them things, whether those things are CDs or dinners at McDonald's. I find it interesting that in several Scandanavian countries, it is outright illegal to advertise to children. Doubt that sort of sentiment could grow much here.

PEople, well I'm 12 I absolutely love hillary duff and just want to be like her. But ya know her songs dont have to be number one to be good.

Duff says she treats everyone fairly and is the sweetest and most innocent teenage girl on T.V. Hi everybody!! :) i am 20, and i both like the Hilary Duff music video, and it makes me sad.
I think it's funny that we're all thinking and talking about someone who we've never even met. I want to get Hilary's e-mail, and ask her how SHE feels. She's the only one that would know ANY of these things we are guessing about her. ;-)
The part i like about the video is the lyrics. That's how i found this site...trying to get the lyrics so i can hang it on my door to look at as i go out on my way to work. I especially like the part about "i know this day will bring what i need..." that's the idea, but i couldn't remember the words. It comes right after the "i don't care if it's raining" line.
The part that makes me sad is that music videos used to be for adults, and i am frustrated that grown-ups make things for kids that are copied after grown-up stuff, instead of teaching kids about kids stuff first. I am also disappointed that we have made it so that kids (like me:-)) watch T.V. to get role models. It's important to have fun, and to see good things on tv, but be sure to look in your own "real live" crowd of friends for good role models, too.
To the girl who said that Hilary was teaching her that she didn't have to be a slut to do good and fun things...YEAH!!! Also, though, I was surprised to hear that, although it was good news. I was surprised when i saw the video, because i thought Hilary was dressed up pretty grown-up. I wished that she could have been dressed a little younger, so that she looked like a teenager having fun being Young, instead of a young teenager trying to be an Older teenager. Then kids would learn it's really fun and cool to like Kid stuff, and not need Grown-up stuff. Being a kid is really wonderful, and kids should be listened to, have fun, and learn that it's cool. Though, now that i'm "old" i try to act like an even older grown-up, so maybe that's just natural. :-)

Lizzie Mcguire the hit t.v. series doesnt only air on the disney channel. It airs on abc as a part of one satuarday morning. Yes the show is for kids between the ages of 6 and 14. But not litle kids. It is very popular and makes the disney channel alot of money. I myself watch the show and I am 12 years old, so do all my friends. The show is cool but it all depends on how you look at it and dont comment on hillarys singing if you cant do any better yourself.

hey i'm 18 and i still find some of the disney shows amusing. however, i will never say that i am a fan of hilary duff starting a musical career simply because my taste for music has changed. when i was a pre-teen i must admit that i was into music that, when i listen to it now, sounds pretty crappy.
what i'm trying to say is that someday you'll realize that the music industry is not into making music to make you feel good when you're angry/sad or appreaciate life or whatever. They are simply there to make money. Once they have a formula for what sells, they find someone with a dream and exploit them. i'm almost positive that someday, you will all grow out of whatever the disney channel or mtv or vh1 says is "good music". but don't get me wrong, occasionally, mtv gets it right. but don't sit in front of the tv like some zombie sponge (ha)taking in everything that runs across your glossy iris. think for yourself. choose your music. don't let it choose you.

alright. yeha i didnt even mean to get here, but since i am i'll give you my opinion. because you don't need to criticize other peoples opinions.
